What OS?

On the target machine the OS is Montavista Hard Hat Linux 2.0.
On the host machine it is Redhat Linux 8.0.

So you're cross-compiling? If so, I can't really help you as that's not my usual MO. I doubt building MIPS binaries on an x86 is done all that often.
