Subject: error about kde

Hello, I am very new in Linux environment!
I have installed on my win-xp
sp2 "vmware 3.2.0 build 2230" and
on I am trying to install "red hat linux 7.1. (seawolf) - kernel 2.4.2-2 on
i686" and I receive error after given the following data: Video-card (NVIDIA
GeForce2 MX 100/200), Monitor setup (Siemens Nixdorf mcm17p2), video memory
(32mb), NO CLOCKCHIP setting (recommended), on ?8bit? I have set 1024x768 (in
any case I have tested several combinations with ?16/24 bit?), and when
Xconfigurator starts I receive this error:
I have made a lot of test
running manually ?startx? and ?Xconfigurator? receiving always the same error! I
attach here the copy about Xfree86.0.log. Take note please that when I
log in Linux I can give without any problem the commands (vi, ls, man, ?) but my
kde or gnome does not starts.
Where is the error? I have
seen on another environment the same (?) installation and everything was running
fine there!!! Please can you help

p.s. what have I to do to
print/copy on windows-printer/file the files resident in Linux
machine?!
