  This appears to be a RedHat problem.  You might try searching for
libbitmap.a and libpcidata.a on your system.  They are supposed
to be at /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/fonts/libbitmap.a and
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/libpcidata.a and if the server was previously
working, then they were at one point.  From the reports I've seen,
it sounds like RedHat deletes or moves these files for some reason.
I don't know of anyone ever explaining why RedHat does that.  In
any case, reinstalling XFree86 should solve the problem, but there
may be simpler solutions that I don't know about.  If you can find
those files elsewhere on your disk, that might give a clue.
