Hi Qiang, Firstly, I wasn't recommending *against* building XFree86 yourself, I was merely congratulating you. I do build many other programs from source, but I try to download RPM versions of major system components. I don't know where you can get RPMs of XFree 4.4. I haven't looked in the XFree source, but wondered if the Makefile has an RPM target? I have found a few people offering RPM "spec" files for XFree 4.0 on the web.
