You are missing some "base modules" -- some components required by the X server -- that should exist below the path /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/. Specifically you are missing (at least) the file /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/fonts/libbitmap.a and I would assume various others. You do not have to re-install your entire OS (afterall, this is not a Redmond product); you should be able to get away with just re-intalling various XFree86 packages. The XFree86 modules are located in the base XFree86 RPM package in Red Hat 9 -- specifically, the package XFree86-4.3.0-2. You should re-install this package (and possibly some other XFree86 packages) and see if your problem goes away. -- Keith R.
