So the bottom line for me:
- "IGP" and "M6" is not the same chip
Correct.
- Since I only find "IGP" in the radeon driver documentation for XFree86, while my own system has an M6, which is not mentioned, there is a good chance that it is indeed not supported, and that the reason why all XFree86 programs fail might be exactly that :-(
AFAIK, it *should* be supported. At least from the 3D perspective, which is the only area I really know, the M6 and the desktop Radeon 7000 are identical. Since the 7000 is supported, and has been for a long time, the M6 should be as well. Afterall, the M6 is more than 2 years old.
