here are three things u can do( not in any particular order)
 
1) visit the FAQ site
http://xfree86.linuxwiki.org/FAQ
2)Type Xconfigurator and follow on screen instructions for reconfiguring
 your display card and everything will work out fine. Soon after just
 restart your computer and not just the service but the reboot
command.
3)just chek out the website .....

its really fun to work in linux urself and try things out and make things work when it doesnt ....
