XFree86 won't start in Mandrake 9.2 under Microsoft Virtual PC

If you have any ideas I'd appreciate your help.

I installed Mandrake 9.2 on a virtual machine, using Microsoft Virtual PC
(host OS is WinServer2003).

Linux installs fine, and boots to the command line, but typing kde gives me
the errors seen in the attached file.
