Hi,

I have the same problem with a Dell Inspiron 510m. The driver for this
chipset uses the resolutions given by the BIOS.

In the case of my laptop, the 1400x1050 isn't listed into the BIOS, so I
can't use this resolution. This is due to a BIOS bug. The problem has
been resolved for a long time by Intel, but Dell still haven't
incorpored it.

You may have the same problem with your Asus, I don't know if they use
the old buggy BIOS or the 'new' release from Intel.
