Hi everyone, I found out that the second error of not being able to login was because as I made backup copies of X11, X11R6, etc. that my disk size shrank, so I was at the limit where non root users couldn't store anything to disk... so when I tried to login with those accounts, they couldn't login... so I removed some more files, so they're back ok now. Thanks. -Edward -----Original Message----- From: TSAI,EDWARD SHIN-HWA [mailto:edwardt@xxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, April 27, 2004 3:11 PM To: xfree86@xxxxxxxxxxx; TSAI,EDWARD SHIN-HWA Cc: XFree86@xxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: No more GNOME window manager, always goes to XSM Hello all, I figured out it probably had something to do with my config from before being overwritten, so they were written back again and I also did a reconfigruation of XF86Config. Now I can get back into my GNOME windowing system with root, but not any other user. Any possibilities of why? Thanks. -Edward Quoting "TSAI,EDWARD SHIN-HWA" <edwardt@xxxxxxxx>: > Hi, > > I just installed XFree86 4.4 over my 4.2 version on Redhat Linux 8.0. > When I > reboot up, I can select "GNOME" in the Redhat login page, but it always > goes to the "Default" XFree XSM window manager.
