Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".

Hi all,

I'm new to this list so hello to all!
To my xfree problem: I'm working on this for three days now and I
think that it is time to come to you with it:

I just wanted to programm opengl with the GLUT API. Everything just worked
allright (programming-compile-execute) until I reinstalled my linux last week.
I have emerged (Gentoo Linux) the newest versions of Linux xfree and all
libraries. Since then every time I start a program following message apears:
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".

All programs I coded and compiled myself stop with this error message. But
glxgears works with 120fps.

I have included data about software and hardware and all relevant log/config
files:
- HW/SW data
- lspci output
- part of the kernel .config
- glxinfo output
- /etc/X11/XF86Config
- dmesg output
- /var/log/XF86.0.log

I hope I have overseen something. I just want to program on my little opengl
project... :)

thank you all for any help!

greets,
Patrick
