I'm tyring to run XFree86 Version 4.4.0 on a Jumtek MOPSLCD6 PC-104 (CT69000 chipset detected) computer with a 640x480 VGA LCD. The top of the screen shows what should be on the bottom of the screen, then there is a black horizontal band about an inch tall, and below that is what should be the top of the screen. The same hardware works fine with Metro-X Enhanced Server Set version 4.3.4-1, but I'd like to use xfree86. I attempted to set up XF86config the same as the XMetroconfig that is working, but with no luck. What can I try to get rid of the vertical wrapping that I'm seeing?
Problem solved (or at least worked around)! If I boot with the vga=785 linux loader option, not only do I get a nice penguin on boot, but X also looks the way it's supposed to. I had previously verified that the penguin looked right and that Metro X worked right with or without the vga option, but I hadn't tried using the vga option and then running Xfree86 X. For some reason, Metro doesn't need the vga option but Xfree86 does. Is this a XFree86 bug?? Should I file a bug report?
Thanks:
David
