I am able to run the X from the Linux machine itself (I am using Redhat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server 2.1) but not from the remote machines. I am using a software called "X-manager" from the remote machine (Windows XP). I can work with the Linux server from the remote machine in text mode. Also I am able to run X applications like for example "xclock" from the remote machine. But I can't run "startx". The error message when I tried to run "startx" command is below:
---------------------------------
Fatal Server error:
PAM authentication failed, cannot start X server.
Perhaps you do not have console ownership?
giving up.
xinit: No such file or directory (errorno 2): unable to connect to X server
xinit: No such process (errorno 3): Server error.
-----------------------------------
Eagerly waiting for your kind suggestions.
Best Regards,
Gopal.
