Re: Problems After Upgrade to 4.4

Newbie myself, I'm not sure I can help. But I can share! I also went to 4.4.0
quite fast because of res./color problems with my Intel chipset (laptop). Tne
install went well but I kept on getting error messages of various natures
(fontpath, etc...). So, my experience is
1- When you get to that screen type exit at the prompt and it'l tell you what
caused the server to crash
2- 4.4.0, as I understand changes directories from 1 location to another and
rewrites links but and it seems that a bunch of those get forgotten in the
process.
3- On Mandrake 9.2 (mine) the config file is XF86Config-4 and 4.4.0 seems to
be creating a XF86Config, which seems to bring some confusion to the loading
process.
4- I noticed that I was getting better results by running 'xf86config' after
the install.
5- Eventually, I reverted to the older version, 'cause I don't have the
experience to correct/rewrite all that needs to be done to have 4.4.0 work on
my Mdrk 9.2.
