Slackware Screee Resolution Problems

I am struggling to use any resolution other than 800x600, which is not 
good for my 20" monitor.
When I CTRL-ALT +/-, the screen appears "Smeared" diagonaly.

I am using ATI RADEON 8500, and have installed the rpm from ATI.com
my XFree86Config section is:
