I see you're running XFree86 version 4.2.0. I don't know how well the 845G was 
supported in the i810 driver there, but the following message was 
interesting:

(EE) I810(0): Only the following modes are supported by the BIOS in this bpp:
(EE) I810(0): 640x480

Apparently this driver doesn't support any other resolution than 640x480 when 
using 16 bits colour mode. I think you have the following options:
1. Upgrade XFree86 to 4.3.x after checking if the support for the 845G chipset 
is better in that version.
2. Use 640x480 mode.
3. Use 8 bits colour mode.
4. Use a different graphics chipset/card.
