I've tried XFree 4.2.x, 4.3.x, and the 4.4 prereleases on my d505, and couldn't get any of them to work. I couldn't get Xig's server to work either, for that matter. The screen just turns a sort of green color, and video doesn't work anymore, including switching to a text VT.
