RE: configuring xfree86 help

I noticed when I configure xfree86, the changes I make to settings and
names aren't reflected in the XF86Config.new file. 

I'm saving the new settings to the default location of
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/XF8Config and
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb/X0-config.keyboard.

That's it or did it get cut off? Aside from the section Module not even
being 
ended, there's hardly anything defined, least of all a (video) device.
Does 
your distribution allow you to have a configuration generated
automatically 
or would you like some assistance in setting one up?
