No mouse wheel in Linux 2.6.1 any more?

I upgraded to Linux 2.6.1 and have most everything working but I'm stuck with
one problem: the mouse wheel seems to have disappeared.

I've tried with Device /dev/psaux and /dev/input/mouse0, neither work. Mouse
motion and buttons work fine including the middle button. But scrolling the
wheel generates no events.

The same config (with /dev/psaux) works fine under 2.4.23.

Has anyone else tried 2.6.x yet?
