You'll want to be using one of the Pre-XFree86 4.4 release candidates.
Mark.
Right. You don't happen to know a Debian unstable repository for snapshots of this? I'm hesitant to compile something so large from source on this old K7 600, with only 200-300MB free space.

When using the "nv" driver I have 2D text corruption in things like Mozilla (mail windows and occasionally web page contents) and xterms. Here's a screenshot:

The blinking text marker is also corrupted -- part of it is "inverted" (a piece of it changes to black when the other changes to translucent and vice versa).
This corruption does not happen with the proprietary "nvidia" driver. Has anyone else experienced similar problems?
Using Debian unstable (current), Linux kernel 2.4.23. XFree86 4.2.1.1 ((Debian 4.2.1-15 20031230220653).
Please tell me if you want me to supply more detailed information.
