Or equally as good, don't bother with xfs and comment out the "Fontpath unix/:7100" line in you XF86Config file. For this to work, you'll need other paths in the FontPath specified. On a side note - this seems to be an incredibly common situation. "My computer crashed/rebooted and now X doesn't work".
