i type "redhat-config-xfree86" to adjust the resolution to 1024*768. it require me to restart the x server and log out.
i restart the machine. but the new resolution dont work.
then i type the "redhat-config-xfree86" again and then type "startx" for new resolution. but it show a message:
"fatal error:
server is already active for display 0. if this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.xo-lock" and start again."
i remove the file and then type "redhat-config-xfree86', then "startx". the error continues, but there is a slight difference, it reads:
"_XSERVTransSocketINETCreateListener:
_XSERVTransSocketCreateListener() failed
_XSERVTransTransmalceALLCOTSServerListeners: Server already running.

fatal server error:
cannot establish any listening sockets - make sure an x server isnt already running."
not to mention, restart the machine dont work.
