It doesn’t look like gateway will do anything to help us……so would some kind developer consider Looking into a possible solution/patch? The laptop uses the intel i830 chip and before the bios upgrade, XF86 v4.3 worked fine………. Now with the new v36.01.00 bios, X cannot reclaim the stolen memory, I think the address’ have moved. I can provide kernel messages from before and after the upgrade, but I only have current, i.e. post upgrade, X logfiles…… BTW, this has happened to several gateway solo 1450 users, so we know it is related to bios upgrade.
