I got same issue. I am working with a Dell optiplex GX270 with i810 driver
for Intel 865 video card and cannot change the resolution. I upgraded to
Xfree 4.3 to have the drivers for it. And I could use them but not change
the resolution.

Ley me know if you find the solution.

Nothing new.... unfortunately.

I've tried with VESA driver with the same result: it'is impossible to set a different mode than what the Xserver recognize.

I've also tried to use FBDEV and I've found a different behavior: it recognize 1875k of videomem and it runs only at 800x600.
It is useless to explicitely declare a wider video memory.

I've tryed the Accelerated-X drivers. It seems they can manage wide screen only at 1280x768 but not at 1280x800.

Thanks

Hi all,

I've bought a laptop with Intel 852/855GM graphics chipset and a
widescreen 1280x800.

XFree seems to work well but I can't set any different mode than
1024x768, even if I explicitly try to define it as modeline.

Is there anyone has experience on the same problem?

Davide
