Your only option at this stage is to go to www.ati.com, select Drivers
and Support from the top nav and follow the links to your video card.
Make sure to select the driver appropriate for your XFree86 version
(most likely 4.2 or 4.3). Use the wrong one and you'll get a message
like "(EE):module mismatch: module's version (x) is higher than the
server's (x-y)". To check your XF86 version you could try
rpm -q xfree86

in a terminal (not sure about the package name on mandrake) or use
Mandrake's package management tool, whatever that is.

Once you've installed the correct rpm from ati, run

fglrxconfig

from a terminal, this will guide you through modifying your
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4 (the main config file for X) including the
2-screen thing. Additionally, you should:

cd /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod
./make.sh #build ati's module source against your system
cd ..
./make_install.sh #install the new module
shutdown -r now #reboot

Bear in mind that you're using spanking new hardware, so your only
possible option is to use ati's 'non-free' i.e. non-GPL drivers, since
the XFree86 project haven't had time to support the 9800 yet. Linux (and
some linux users) may moan at you about tainting the kernel but if you
want hardware acceleration it's your only option at the moment.

Good luck...if you still get lots of error messages post them and we'll
see what we can do.
