Hello,

I've recently been working with an HD-2000 digital tuner card from
pcHDTV to receive terrestrial HDTV in the USA. Because the video
resolutions used for this content are very large (commonly 1920x1080 and
1280x720), I end up running into the XvImage video overlay size limit of
1024x1024 on the two video cards available to me at the moment, a Matrox
G400 Max and a G550.

I found that one workaround for this is to use the "TexturedVideo"
option, which increases the limit to 2046x2046, but this is not
overlayed video. It seems to carry a performance penalty (especially
when attempting to scale large video), and the video frames being
displayed don't synchronize with the scan of my monitor as well (when
comparing smaller videos like DVD output and the ultra-sized Matrix
trailers).

Anyway, I was just curious if the 1024x1024 limit for overlayed video is
a hardware limitation, or just an arbitrary value that was selected. If
the hardware is capable of more, I'd appreciate it if work could be done
to get overlay working at higher resolutions. Otherwise, well, I guess
I'll go hunting for another video adapter..
