You need to be running XFree86 4.3.0 for that card. 4.1.0
predates that hardware by a couple of years.

I installed XFree86 version 4.1.0.1 on my Dell Inspirion 5150 laptop,

I can't get the Xserver to work. I get a message saying "no screens
detected".

I get a similar problem with the Nvidia GeForce FX 5600 Go, I have been
looking for a solution but I wasn't able to find one. I have SuSE 8.2 on
a Sony-VAIO. When the system boot the screen is black, then if I ssh
to the machine from the network and kill the X server everything come
up, I get on the screen the nvidia symbol and then the login shell (kdm, xdm, gdm is all the same behaviour). I have been looking for all the settings but I do not understand why the first time kdm is unable to start X correctly, while the second time it does. After, everything is fine, a nice crisp 1440x1050 LCD screen with all the bells and ....

Any hint ?

Cheers
