You don´t get a message like 'no screens found' or 'screens found but none of them have a usable configuration'? Please send your XF86.config and XFree86.0.log. In the latter you can also check your xfree86 version and then have a look at http://www.xfree86.org/current/Status.html to see if your graphic card is supported.
