[XFree86] Belkin KVM switch and Gnome, console mouse service

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

right now, i'm using:

kernel 2.4.20-20.9
gpm-1.19.3-27
redhat-config-mouse-1.0.5-1
gnome-desktop-2.2.0.1-4
gnome-terminal-2.2.1-3
Belkin KVM F1DS104T
Microsoft PS2 mouse

there are two problems:

1. if i do nothing special on log-in, mouse cursor response is slower than i expect.
this is true even though i have acceleration and sensitivity sliders (Preferences -- Mouse)
all the way over to the right. i must restart GPM if i want faster cursor response.

2. if i use the KVM to switch from Linux to either of two other machines, then switch
back to Linux, every movement of the mouse causes the cursor to jump randomly
around the screen, mostly from a lower left to upper right direction. i can only regain
control over the cursor if i restart GPM service.

i contacted Belkin about the KVM. their reply was "try restarting GPM". that wasn't
terribly helpful.

someone here had earlier suggested this is related to a mouse problem on earlier
kernel versions, but the description of that does not appear to be the same.

is there some other work-around for this? can anyone say whether this is a Gnome
problem, GPM problem, or some other?
