[XFree86] read-only-source install of xfree fails...

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

VERSION:
CVS head, built around 15.Sep 2003

VIDEO DRIVER:

OPERATING SYSTEM:

	FreeBSD 4.7

VIDEO CARD:

    Not quite applicable here....

REPORT:

    Concerning building/installing XFree86:
Should it be possible to `make install' from a successfully-
	built source, that's mounted read-only?

If so, it fails, trying to remove and re-create a symbolic link:

[cut about 1000 lines]
installing in lib/font...
making all in lib/font/bitmap...
making all in lib/font/bitmap/module...
rm -f ../../../../exports/lib/modules/fonts/libbitmap.a
rm: ../../../../exports/lib/modules/fonts/libbitmap.a: Read-only file system
*** Error code 1

Stop in /FreeBSD-CURRENT/usr/local/source/XFree86-4.3/xc/lib/font/bitmap/module.

(I'm not sure if this should be an x.org or an xfree86.org bug-report, sorry...)

[There is no need to reply to this, because I'm not always online and
mail may bounce to my address]

Thanks,
Barry Bouwsma
