I'm trying to install Linux on a Dell Inspiron 1100. Everything works, but the display takes only the center %60 of the screen. I have an A22 bios, Linux Kernel version 2.4.20-8.
I'm running RedHat 9.0 and XFree86 Version 4.3.0 (Red Hat Linux release 4.3.0-2). I have an Intel I845GL chip with driver "i810". I have tried to apply a patch that I found online called 845 patch but it still does not work.
When I boot it gives me errors:
(EE) I810(0): No Video BIOS modes for chosen depth.
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.
Fatal server error: no screens found
Is there a patch that you know of with detailed instructions? I'm fairly new to Linux so I don't want to screw anything up.
Thanks,
Alex Joyner
