Most likely XFS in RH9 isn't compiled with debugging symbols (however
since it's a beta release, it ought to be -- but that's another issue).

I would open a root shell / sudo(1) xfs in a terminal:

Normally RHL starts it:

xfs -droppriv -daemon

...in your terminal run it:

: xfs -droppriv -nodaemon

...if that offers nothing insightful, try using strace:

$ sudo strace xfs -droppriv -nodaemon

-lava
