* improve checks for missing bitmap fonts, fallback to "fixed" as
needed to work around broken font-packages (report by Jacek
Luczak).
* fix breakage from [245]patch #240 changes for xtermAddInput()
(patches by Jeff Chua, Julien Cristau).
