Yes indeed, but it does make changes to the corresponding Imakefiles and
this seems sufficient to break things. I still use the same config file
and I simply added this patch to the list in the .spec file.
The error does not occur when applying the patch, but during the
compilation.

Hummm.  Please send me that .spec file (privately).

That .spec file applies additional changes, some of which are no longer needed. In this case, it's patch 40002 that fails, not the 4.6.99.[26->27] diff.

In any case, XFree86 cannot be expected to support any additional changes made to its sources. So, you're on your own on this one.
