I'm running 4.5.99.18 and having problems with supporting HDReady panels. The HDReady panels support 1360x768@60Hz typically. Using the i810 driver on a i945G with the i915resolution hack I can get the driver to set 1360x768 but not at 60Hz. Talking to alanh it seems that the problem may be in XFree86 not matching modes correctly. We try changing to LOOK_CLOSEST_CLOCK but that does not work. At the moment I've forced 60 into the calls to prevent any higher frequency being used. I assume that its not just the i810 driver that will have this problem, I know the CLE266 does not work as well and I'll pick up Luc's newer driver code soon to test again. Is this problem with EDID prefered mode known about? Have we missed a way to makes things work? BTW the Xorg folks are also fighting this problem. See Xorg bugzilla 5386.
