Re: Ati Radeon 9000 Pro

I run a Dell inspiron 8200 (laptop), which uses the Radeon 9000 (I don't
think pro). 3D and 2D support is very good. FWIW, I can run Return To
Castle Wolfenstein at 1600x1200 resolution with all the good high end
graphics features turned on. It works very well.

On the down side, what I've found:

Going to suspend mode causes the screen to fill with horizontal lines,
and it will never recover - reboot. Looks like there might be a fix out
there: http://cpbotha.net/dri_resume.html and that this might be a
problem with DRI in general? This was not a problem when I was using
the VESA driver.

Also, before closing the lid (which I have bios configured to not
suspend, but keep running), I must VT switch to a text mode first, other
wise a similar thing (above) will happen.

Installation required a modification to the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file.
Trimmed the H&V rates down by 10 each. This was likely to XF86
configure not detecting my display type properly.

That's about it. Runs great!
