Hi, Felix: Thanks, Felix. I searched for XF86Config-4 but it doesn't exist on my system. ( locate XF86Config & find / -iname xf86config* grep -i virtual /etc/X11/XF86Config ) I am using Slackware v8.0 install, kernel 2.2.19, Dell Latitude XPi CD M166ST laptop with 1 Gigabyte HD, 16 Megabytes RAM. xterm -version returns XFree86 4.0.3(156) However, I found a fix similar to what you suggested. I removed the '8 bit' and '24 bit' Modes lines and deleted the '640x480' and '1024x768' from the 16 bit line leaving only: Modes "800x600" Since I cannot do a CTRL-ALT-+ as my laptop does not have a keypad '+' key, I cannot change resolutions 'on the fly'. :-| It looks good now! :-) Regards, Chuck Felix Miata wrote: > > Chuck Gelm wrote: > > > How do I make my screen size the same as my window size? > > I do not want to scroll to see the entire screen. > > In your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file, remove the line beginning "virtual" > that follows the color depth you are using, or on the modes line remove > all resolutions higher than the one you use. I did find a 'XF86Config' and it did contain a Modes line containing "1024 x 768" which I removed and then startx still I had 'window' larger than my screen. My system specifications indicate my display is 800x600 and my video driver is listed (#321) NeoMagic laptop. Regards, Chuck > -- > "If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you. . . ."
