Did you exactly "created device && added agp_load && XFree86..." ? without 
reboot in between? If you did, then it's kind of mistery for me, if you 
didn't - do it. should solve problem. Also try to send your log 
(/var/log/XFree86.0.log) & config (/etc/X11/XF86Config). 

One more hint: before running xf86config move /etc/X11/XF86Config to some safe 
place and start configuring from scratch.
