I've built a GNU/Linux system all from source, including kernel 2.4.18, glibc 2.2.5, gcc 2.95.3, and XFree86 4.2.0. When I run "xset r rate 250 30" (or with any other delay and repeat rate), it segfaults, and the server outputs this: The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports: > Error: Can't find file "unknown" for geometry include > Exiting > Abandoning geometry file "(null)" Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server Another problem that showed up at the same time is that xterm sees Meta-<key> as <key>. (I.e., the program running inside xterm sees unmodified keys instead of Meta-modified keys. xterm itself is presumably seeing the Meta modifier, since non-xterm programs such as emacs do.) Since XKB is involved in the xset problem, and since they started at the same time, I'm guessing the two problems are related. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? paul _______________________________________________ Newbie@XFree86.Org *** To unsubscribe , or change message options, see: http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/newbie
