colors

I am running XFree86 version 4.2 on a G4 running OSX 10.2. I ssh to
a unix box, run IDL, and execute some IDL procedures. I get the
following error messages on startup of the IDL procedures:

IDL> near_xrs
% Unsupported X Windows visual (class: PseudoColor, depth: 8).
Substituting default (class: TrueColor, Depth: 24).

The code runs properly, but it's black&white, not color. I can
connect to this same machine from a PC using x-deep/32 and I get no
error messages and the color displays correctly so I think the
problem is with my set-up on the Mac. Does anyone have any
suggestions?

Thanks,
Richard
