X mem usage

Hi,

I noticed that my machine at work (I didn't install it) does a lot of
swapping. I think it has something to do with X 4.2.0 . The machine has
only about 130MB RAM, but the size of X seems ridiculously large.

PID USER PRI NI SIZE RSS SHARE STAT LIB %CPU %MEM TIME COMMAND
 2322 root 11 0 278M 274M 3536 S 0 1.5 214.9 17:47 X

Even more so if I compare it with another machine running 3.3.6,

19243 root 0 0 43172 41M 1316 S 0 0.0 32.7 618:33 X

Is this normal? I can't believe that to run X 4.2 in a comfortable way
you have to have a minimum of 256MB...

Some info people may want to know (from the logs)
(--) PCI:*(1:0:0) NVidia GeForce2 MX 100/200 rev 178, Mem @
0xe9000000/24, 0xf00

(II) Module glx: vendor="NVIDIA Corporation"
        compiled for 4.0.2, module version = 1.0.2880
        Module class: XFree86 Server Extension
ABI class: XFree86 Server Extension, version 0.1

(II) Module nvidia: vendor="NVIDIA Corporation"
        compiled for 4.0.2, module version = 1.0.2880
        Module class: XFree86 Video Driver

So I think it uses some foreign drivers...

Grts Tim
