I am attempting to install RedHat Linux 7.3 on a Virtual Machine that I have installed on my computer that is running Windows XP. I have an Intel 82810E Graphics Controller with 4M RAM and a HP Pavillion mx70 monitor. Each time I try to start X Window I get an error and the only way I can run RedHat is in text mode. I tried to use xf86config and I get the same problem. When I attempt to use xconfigurator I get a file ot found error. This is my first time attempting to use RedHat or any type of Linux platform. If anyone can help please send me step-by-step instructions to my e-mail account (steven@draper.org) in either text or html format. I do not know any commands in text mode. Again this is my very first time on a linux system. In addition to the above problem I get a "FAIL" notice on boot when linux attempts to access e0. I do not know if the problems I am experiencing are common or if it is because I am installing it on a Virtual Machine rather then on an actual machine. Since my wife and I use our computer on a daily basis I don't want to chance loading RedHat Linux on an actual machine until I get some experience with Linux. _______________________________________________ Newbie@XFree86.Org *** To unsubscribe , or change message options, see: http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/newbie
