Hello James,

The first message is telling you that your font server (xfs) is either not 
running or not listening on port 7100

The second message is from Blackbox, not 'X'.
I think its something to do with locales/i18n etc.
Do a google on that exact message (in "quotes") and you might get some more 
info.
