RedHat 6.2 / XFree86 4.2.0: "no screens found"

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I am running RedHat Linux 6.2, which is 2.2.14-5.0, on a 466 MHz
Celeron with 128 M RAM and a Sis 6236 AGP card. Win98 was running
nicely on this system.

The Linux dmesg only says "Console: colour VGA+ 80x25; nothing about
the proprietary card. I don't know the significance of that.

I downloaded the source for XFree 4.2.0, configured and compiled and
after some fiddling around everything looked good until... (the
following is the XFree86.0.log):

Help! Ideas, anyone? I don't know how to proceed.

I can certainly send along the XF86Config file too if that would be helpful.

Thank you very much,

Newbie Ralph
