Problem wit h Logitech usb mouse

Hello,

I have Red Hat 7.3 with kernel 2.4.18-3 and XFree 4.2.0.

FIRST
=====
The kernel recongizes my usb Logitech MouseManPlus.
XFree86Config-4 Config file does not list the mouse as a usb
mouse but as PS/2 or IMPS/2.

When I try to edit the file and add usb as the mouse protocol, X
does not start at all.

SECOND
======

Every now and then, all of the sudden the mouse would be at
(x+20) position. So if there is an icon on position (50,100) on
the screen, I'll have to put the pointer at position (50+20,100)
to be able to click on that icon!!!

I have no idea what the cause is. The only cure I know is to
reboot! Exiting Gnome and login back does not solve the problem.
Restarting X does not solve the problem.

Please, help anyone?

Faisal
