Don't know if this will help but I have an 8200 Tecra with a Trident chipset on board. I had to add the following line to the device sectino of the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file to cure this problem: Option "Display1400" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sam Rudland |---------+----------------------------> | | josh | | | <josh@bemac.com> | | | Sent by: | | | newbie-admin@XFre| | | e86.Org | | | | | | | | | 05/20/02 02:24 PM| | | Please respond to| | | newbie | | | | |---------+----------------------------> >--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | To: newbie@XFree86.Org | | cc: | | Subject: [Newbie]New laptop hell !! | >--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| Hi All I have just got a new Toshiba 6100 laptop with an Nvidia GeForce4 420 Go graphics adapter installed and a Tosh 15 XGA TFT Screen. The adapter is supported by Nvidias own driver which appears to load correctly but there is one problem: No matter what I tinker with, the display has a large right hand border and has truncated the display. OS is Mandrake 8.2 - Kernel 2.4.18-1mkdsmp i686 XFree86 Version 4.2.0 (Protocol Version 11, rev 0, vendor release 6600) dated 23 january 2002 NVidia drivers are 1.0-2880 installed from source tarball The problem occurs no matter what resolution I try but I am attempting to get the 1024x768 at 24bit working fully. Any helpfull suggestions will be greatly appreciated :-) Regards _______________________________________________ Newbie@XFree86.Org *** To unsubscribe , or change message options, see: http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/newbie
