The latest version of RH (7.3) contains 2D acceleration support using XFree86-4.2.0. There is no 3D acceleration available with XFree86 for the Radeon8500. There is supposed to be a commercial proprietary driver from either Xi Graphics or Metro X. There was some talk of starting a snail-mail letter campaign to let ATI know that we want better support for XFree86. Is anyone still interested (I'll put up a geocities page with suggested points to make and relevant addresses if there's any interest) -Oisin
