[Newbie]Documentation to do with how XF86Config & XF86Config-4 files

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I am afraid the XF86Config-4 files are only supplied by a couple of distributions (RH for
instance) because they provide BOTH 3.3.6 and 4.x.x. As a consequence it is not a standard and is
probably only documented (if at all) in those distributions.
As an aside, I am surprised to find out that The files in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11 are used:
on one of my PC I am running RH 7.1 with both 3.3.6 and 4.x.x (depending on the user id, with
3.3.6 I get acceleration not with 4.x.x -its an old PC) in my case, I doubt very much that
anything else than what is in /etc/X11 is used...
Anyhow, If you are using only one version why not copy the relevant file onto the other.
