Posting your XF86Config (in case you run 3.3.6) resp. XF86Config-4 (in case you are using 4.x.x)
might be useful
assuming you are running 4.x.x (find out by either typing X -version or looking at the top of your
log: /var/log/XFree86.0.log) then the mouse config is in the  corresponding "input device section"
you can also give a look at www.linux-laptop.net you might find the information for your machine
there...
