--=====================_1989237221==_.ALT Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed I'm having problems with the XWindowing system randomly freezing on my PC104 embedded system. Using: Mandrake Linux 8.2. XFree86 4.2 PC104 i586 cpu Chips & Technologies CT69030 graphics card w/ 4MB video ram. driver= "chips" Server= SVGA XF86Config-4 file resembles... Section "Device" Identifier "Chips & Technologies CT69030" Driver "chips" Option "Overlay" Option "FPMode" "False" EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Screen0" Device "Chips & Technologies CT69030" Monitor "Sony 200SF" DefaultDepth 24 Subsection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "1024x768" EndSubsection EndSection * The system will work fine while using a Terminal...mouse movements in X windows freezes the system at random. * I've tried KDE, GNOME, and ICE * I've tested different mouses...serial, PS/2...no difference. * I've tried REDHat Linux 7.3...no difference. * I'm am using straight linux binaries (not compiled on my system) * The system will not freeze if I use XFree86-3.3.6, but I have to use an "unlisted" driver and the FBDev?? Xserver. Because of this, the Chips and Technologies card capabilities/resolutions can't be utilized (which I need). I also have windowing problems with my needed applications using 3.3.6. * I've reinstalled and reinstalled and reinstalled Mandrake and Redhat... * I've tried just about every resolution combination. I've noticed from your site that other people have problems with freezes also...but I haven't seen anything identical to my problem. Any suggestions please??? Thankyou. __________________________________________ John Marmie NASA Ames Research Center MS 213-2 Moffett Field, CA 94035 jamarmie@mail.arc.nasa.gov 650 604 6773 650 604 4984 fax __________________________________________ --=====================_1989237221==_.ALT Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii"
I'm having problems with the XWindowing system randomly freezing on my PC104 embedded system.

Using:
Mandrake Linux 8.2.
XFree86 4.2
PC104 i586 cpu
Chips & Technologies CT69030 graphics card w/ 4MB video ram.
driver= "chips"
Server= SVGA

XF86Config-4 file resembles...
Section "Device"
<x-tab> </x-tab>Identifier "Chips & Technologies CT69030"
<x-tab> </x-tab>Driver "chips"
<x-tab> </x-tab>Option "Overlay"
<x-tab> </x-tab>Option "FPMode" "False"
EndSection
Section "Screen"
<x-tab> </x-tab>Identifier "Screen0"
<x-tab> </x-tab>Device "Chips & Technologies CT69030"
<x-tab> </x-tab>Monitor "Sony 200SF"
<x-tab> </x-tab>DefaultDepth<x-tab> </x-tab>24
<x-tab> </x-tab>Subsection "Display"
<x-tab> </x-tab><x-tab> </x-tab>Depth<x-tab> </x-tab>24
<x-tab> </x-tab><x-tab> </x-tab>Modes<x-tab> </x-tab>"1024x768"
<x-tab> </x-tab>EndSubsection
EndSection

The system will work fine while using a Terminal...mouse movements in X windows freezes the system at random.
I've tried KDE, GNOME, and ICE
I've tested different mouses...serial, PS/2...no difference.
I've tried REDHat Linux 7.3...no difference.
I'm am using straight linux binaries (not compiled on my system)
The system will not freeze if I use XFree86-3.3.6, but I have to use an "unlisted" driver and the FBDev??
